Computer won't recognize the hard drive

Ok, Well. I did some troubleshooting and hooked the same hard drive to my computer and my computer recognized it right away so it's not the hard drive. I then took another hard drive, one that is older and connects through ide cable, and the motherboard didn't even recognize that one either. So the problem is the motherboard. My first thought was that the motherboard was f***ed but when it didn't even recognize the ide cable, it didn't make sense. If somethings is screwed it's usually one thing and not two. It just seems like it's a wacked setting or something.

Does anybody know anything about this motherboard, its an asus a7n8x deluxe. or is my first instinct right?

Hopefully a quick response, because i need to know if i need a new motherboard.
