Default Computer for Grandma

Alright this is my first post, but I've been reading these forums for a while now. They helped my to just build my first computer. Now that I somewhat know what I'm doing my grandma wants me to build her a computer. she has about $500 to spend on. now I doubt that she be using to computer to play any games. So I can go easy on the graphics card. and because I want her to have a decent dual core I think I'm going for the AMD X2 3800+. (Just cause it's so cheap)

I could use some suggestions as to what is the best computer I can get for around $500

(She has a monitor and keyboard ect.)

You don't need $500.

I guess she wouldn't need a dual core. Well If I don't get a dual core what would you recommend? She doesn't have anything now. She got rid of her computer about 2 years ago. it was a POS.

pentium 4...I mean does she just surf the net and stuff, i personally would use the left over money to buy a good monitor, or some speakers.

I'd honestly recommend a pre-built. For cheap, entry-level computers, why not go with HP, Dell, or whatever.

Get something really simple along these lines:

Just get a Dell and set her up with a nice monitor, this way if it breaks she just calls them and they fix it for her.
