Choosing a new video card

Alright, I'm going to buy the 1950pro in around 30 min unless someone can convince me otherwise.

I don't know man, I still think I'm gonna go with the 1950pro because the first benchmark test you sent even said they were disappointed with the performance of the midrange DX 10 cards, and the second was using an overclocked version of the 8600gts and still was really close to the 1950pro. And also the midrange DX 10 cards don't play well at all with DX 10 enabled games, like less than 10 fps I've seen. So if I need DX 10 later I can buy a better card.

They were disappointed with the performance of DX10 midranged video card because it performs worse than what they thought

But this doesn't mean that 8600GTS is slower than X1950pro and 7900GS

By the way, paying $190 for X1950pro is waste of money in my opinion. You can get a much better video card for cheaper price like 7950GT

the x1950 pro 512mb he is talking about, and the x1950 pro 256mb loses on resolutions higher than 17'' wide

I don't think there is a difference in terms of performance between 512MB and 256MB version of X1950pro

Did you say 17'' wide ? The smallest wide monitor I ever saw is 19"

I'm not sure if you noticed it or not but the price for the X1950pro had something like a $40 rebate on it so it's only around $150. Anyway, I already bought it and I'm sure that it will at least perform well in games until I get a new better DX 10 one that will actually play DX 10 games well later on.
