I my current 9-year-old computer (533MGz, 333MHz, 384 RAM, TNT 64 video) is starting to fail (piece by piece). Recently, I have had several thousand dollars of expenses come up. Therefore, I am planning on building my own computer to save money. Anything would be faster than what I have now.
I use it for business, general games, Internet, photo restoration, and multi-media files. I do not need the best (being frugal), but I also do not wish to through my money away on junk. At this time, the lower the cost the better, but I still want a decent system. I would like to build a system that can be upgraded and expanded as finances become available. Some future desires: adding a second SATA CD drive, more RAM, and possibly a second hard drive.
Any recommended suggestions on componenets would be greatly appreciated.
I will be using XP Pro, but may later upgrade to Vista.

RAM: minimum 800 MHz, Minimum 2 GB, upgradeable to 4

I have noticed that Tiger Direct has several CPU and Motherboard bundles as well Barebones kits. Are these a reasonable option? Does another company have bundles that you would recommend?
