Here's what I'm thinking for a new build...

AMD X6 1055t CPU
Gigabyte 870A-UD3 Mobo
Corsair XMS 2x4G DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24
Corsair HX650W PSU
WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 3, USB 3 HDD
Kingston SSD 64G (for OS)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 SE Fermi 1G

Any thoughts?

Nice build!

Only thing I would change is the PSU, get this one: Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply
I have that one, works great, cheaper, too.

Otherwise, good job.

Why would you suggest a crappier psu? The HX models are better, plus modular.


OP...

Don't change the psu.
The hx has more connections, longer warrentee and better efficiency. This alone is worth the 10 bucks extra in cost, so don't change it.

I would rather that it had G.Skill, Corsair, or Crucial RAM, but that set seems good.

Go with this card. Better cooling, but has a lifetime warranty.

Nice combo. NCIX will generally price match so I could just grab it locally (I just like going into the store and actually dealing with a person). I would probably bump the RAM up as well.

Don't know anything about Sparkle Vid Cards? What's the deal with them? Decent?

Actually, yes. Sparkle is beginning to move away from just using the standard Nvidia cooler and PCB. They offer lifetime warranties on their cards. EVGA used to do the same across the board but now some of their cards only have a two year warranty. ZOTAC offers lifetime on some as well. XFX used to offer double lifetime on all their cards but Nvidia dropped them because XFX dared to start putting out ATI/AMD cards too (they still offer double lifetime on their cards BTW... only just ATI/AMD now).
