I would seriously reccommend staying away from an external HDD. What is the reason for getting one? (Instead of an Internal)

External HDD's are alot more expensive than normal HDD's and have less storage space. The main advantage is portability but if you have more than one computer you can always open up the case and put it in.

You can always get one of those USB adapter devices and buy a normal hard drive, to basically turn it into an external USB HD.
