I'm upgrading my CPU and motherboard. I have a CD/DVD drive that's 4 years old. It's connected via IDE (the thick ribbon). Can I use an IDE CD/DVD drive with new motherboards or am I going to need one with a SATA connection?

On a lot of the newer motherboards, IDE is being phased out so unless the board has IDE, you're going to need sata.

Depends on the MB. As brinks said IDE is hard to come by. Most new motherboards only have one IDE channel, which you can connect two devices to (one ribbon has two connectors on it).
