Can not install OS!

I build my self a new computer and everything seems to be working fine except for the CD-ROM. The CD-ROM is recognized by the BIOS under the boot sequence and I set the CD-ROM to boot before the HD. So I put in the CD of some linux distro and nothing happens it just goes straight to the HD. What do you think is wrong. With out the CD-ROM I can not install any thing unless I use and USB key but I have all my linux distributions on CDs so please help me out here.

Did you try entering the boot menu, and choose to boot from CD-ROM that way?

try and reset the BIOS once the drive is already plugged in. make sure you have power to it as well

Thanks I think that did the trick. I was now able to install windows xp on it.
