i just bought ram and installed it today.
They were 2 X 512 corsair sticks. I added it to the ram i had in stock with my emachines so now i have 4 sticks in total.

The question I want to ask is ...
Is it safer to buy 2 X 1gb sticks so i have the same brand.
How unsafe is it with what i have and what problems can i get now or in the future.

And if you guys could link me to some good ram with 1 x 2gb sticks. If it doesnt cost too much more i will just return these and buy 2 gb of the same brand.
samsung is the name of the ram that emachines provided me with.

so what is the better thing to do.

IIRC 2x1Gb is faster than 4x512Mb, and I'm always superstitious to have two different brands of memory in my computers, so yes, if I were you, send the new sticks back, sell the eMachine ones (or keep them for later, up to you), and buy a good set of 2x1Gb.

Newegg.com is your friend, here I've narrowed down your choices to DDR, and 2x1Gb. My guess would be you would want at least DDR400, and something with head spreaders.

Good luck.

what are heat spreader...whats good or bad about them? and I wanna know which is the best ram available for the best price.
