Default Buying laptop

I'm headed to college in a few months and i decided to get a laptop. I'll be using the laptop for mostly gaming and college work. I was just wondering if i should get a laptop with the intel duo core or should i just wait and grab the amd turion x2? Thanks.

Also if there is anything else you guys would recommend me getting besides those I've mentioned, feel free to mention.

there are very few X2 laptops out there...and you're not going to get a very good dual-core laptop for $1300

Your not going to get an X2 laptop for 1300. You can easily get one with a core duo and a decent graphics card...

I see. And how good are the core duo's for gaming? Are they better than the Turion series that are out now?

I heard the core duo's are decent for multi tasking and gaming.

You shuold get the E1705 from dell with an upgrade like a go 7800 and 1GB of ram should pull you through this year's games
