Default Buying Laptop

i am planning to spend like 600-700 on a new laptop
i have couple of questions
i know for sure i want to have a dvd-rw (what is dvd-rw dual layer)?
Amd or Intel ?? whats better ?
at least 512mb memory
i just want to use for internet surfing what is best brand to choose and stuff?

and is it possible to get what i am looking for ? Where?

dual layer dvd's can hold twice as much as regular dvds, so instead of the 4.7gb, they can hold like 9.4

as for amd or intel, your gonna get pple going for both, personally i like intel, but there are a lot of AMD hardcore people in this forum, just read benchmarks about both and decide whats best.

but is there a diffrence or just a personal choice?
any problems with intel or AMD?
