Question Buying Desktop for Father-In Law?

I want to buy an inexpensive desktop for my father in-law for Christmas. He is 65 -- not tech savy. He just wants something to use to browse the internet and maybe run some low level apps -- no high end gaming here. Can anyone suggest a decent priced pc w/monitor to buy (hopefully not more than $500 - less is better)? I know that I could build a pc but I do not want to. I just built a high end machine for my own use and do not feel like building another one so soon. Thanks for the help and happy holidays!

Yeah, this is what my mom did about 2 years ago and she found the right machine for her to browse the net and set-up her eBay account. It was inexpensive and it it is right for her.
