Building Server

Hi,

I have never built a PC before and I want a low spec server that will be used as web server or voip server. This is what i got so far what do you guys think? Are they all compatable

in that case get a cheap pentium dual-core or amd aquivilanet, not a pentium 4

Instead of the processor above will this be better?

Intel E2140 Pentium Dual Core Socket 775 2x1.60GHz 1MB Cache 800FSB

Its ashame it only has 1MB of cache not 2MB does this matter?

yes that proccesor is a ton better. Its a new architure will prove to be faster, energy effienect and less heat as well.

If you want more cache go for the core 2 duo's.

This memory might be slightly better:

Audio and Graphics built into the motherboard it looks like. They dont have to be great as it will be a server. Is this my server complete? Is everything compatable.

Ugh not used to UK sites.
This is what i recommend:
Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 690V Socket AM2 Onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX Motherboard - Ebuyer
mabye get some other cheap AMD motherboard with onboard video, they tend me cheaper than intel's
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.30GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
Some 16mb cache harddrive.
Your gonna need a PSU, since you got no videocard, some cheap 350watt PSU should do.
the motherboard comes with some sata cables, unless u got some ide drives to use you wont need that cable.
The case exhaust fan is pretty useless for a comp like this.

Looks like a very good PC/Server. Is everything compatable even the RAM? Will it fit into the case ok, I've never built a computer before just modded them like adding new bits but thats fairly simple.

16mb cache Hard Drive out my price range. 8mb still seems good

Yep everything looks good, ram is compatiable.
A PSU like this is enough:
Antec Basiq Power 350W ATX 12V PSU - Ebuyer
so the extra cache could be for the 16mb cache harddrive.

The extra value power supplies look pretty good at its price... but i never heard of that brand.

I went with coolmaster because of the "cool" in the name lol. I thought it will cool down my PC with that massive fan underneath, but thinking about it all PSU have fans underneath there just not in the picture.

Do I need some kind of heatsink or fan in the computer to make it not overheat?
