Default Building a PC, can't decide between AMD or Intel

Yes, this is my first post. My friend put me on to this site. But b4 i created an account i was reading severial threads to gather information and would like to become more active on this site.

I have built severial computer... but never and AMD unit. I am having some trouble deciding between the Amd and Intel. Price doesn't "overly" concern me. I WILL NOT BE OVERCLOCKING! I am somewhat familar with the amd specs and am worried about compatibility issues.

Here is what im using with an antex case, P/S:
Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 18X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner With LightScribe Technology - OEM
Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda ES ST3250620NS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

Here is were i can usEsome help deciding in:
AMD
Chip - Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail
Mobo - Newegg.com - ASUS M2A-VM Socket AM2 AMD 690G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
Newegg.com - ASUS M2A-VM HDMI Socket AM2 AMD 690G uATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

VS

Intel
Chip - Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Allendale 2.0GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail
Newegg.com - ASUS P5B-Plus LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Can anyone help me decide between these 2 mobo or give any recommendations? Some info on some of the major differences would help too! This is not intended for serious game use. Using this just to run newer programming software and to last me another 2 plus years.

I WILL NOT BE OVERCLOCKING. Any help is appreciated.

i would get the AMD. i run AMD and it never gave me any problems i also run socket am2. so if your not overclocking you shouldnt have overheating. amd also has more bang for your buck i would get AMD umless you are fetting a 6 series intel thats my preferance.

tryout amd , at that price range its hard to compete against it, that memory is fine but the jacka##s here at tech forums will FORCE you to get g-skills =P (just a little joke), i would recommend a biostar t-force motherboard because the asus 690's are questionable in quality

HI B1GAPL!!!

Benchmarks
X-bit labs - Core 2 Duo E6420, E6320 and E4400 Plus Another 15 Sub-$200 Dual-Core Processors (page 9)

E4400 performs on par or its even slightly faster than 4600+

And E4400 overclocks better, but I would still go with intel even if you don't want to overclock (assuming that both cost the same)
