Default Building a new computer need a lot of help...

Im thinking about buying a new decent gaming computer. I've been looking at some barebone kits and saw this

Asus M2N-SLI Socket AM2AM2+ Barebone Kit - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ 2.80GHz Black Edition, 2GB OCZ SLI DDR2 PC6400, ATX Clear Side Mid-Tower Case, 550 Watt Power Supply at TigerDirect.com

I was wondering if this is a good kit to get and also if there were other kits I should be looking at? $300-400 is around my budget.

That's actually a good deal. But why is SLI sign all over the place, when they don't even provide a GPU? If your planning on gaming you'd have to get something like a 9600 GSO or 9600 GT which are around the 100$ category. If you wanted to SLI you'd still need another card though.

So it'd end up as a 500$ SLI build, which is a great price.

Agreed, maroon's recommendation + a 4850 or cheap used 8800GTS 512mb/9800GTX would make for a very nice budget computer.

Another 2gb ram would be helpful as well.

well unless you are gaming at a very high resolution I would not bother with SLI/crossfire
