Hello, I'm Planning on building a computer for my parents since there old one is crap and they can't do anything on it. I have a Motherboard kicking around and I need some advice on other parts that are compatible. The Motherboard is a Asus K8V - MX series. (yes its crap but I don't got tones of cash)

I need: Ram, CD drive, Hard drive, Processor, (I have a power supply). The motherboard has a video card and soundcard built on.

This computer isn't going to be anything fancy i.e. word processing, email etc... . I'm looking to spend around 350$. Also give any opinions you might have on my plan (if its worth it or not).

Thanks for reading and if I'm missing anything on the list please let me know.

Ya those are nice and cheep but what about the other parts? Remember I'm looking for somthing really simple, like just lookin on the net for the daily news or typing a letter. The mobo I have is ok I think and the CPU you posted is compatible with my motherboard?

And all of this is compatible with my motherboard? Just double checking..

1/2 the links dont work!!

The parts listed INCLUDE a new motherboard.... Looking at around $329 before shipping for ALL NEW components...

I just checked - it is NOT.

Please stand by - I'm looking for a new CPU, vid card, and RAM. Everything else will work.

EDIT: OK, new parts list:

AMD Sempron 64 3400+ - $68.99

1GB Corsair ValueSelect PC3200 DDR RAM - $108.99

Your board appears to have onboard video, so a video card would be unnecessary. Check anyways to make sure it has a monitor port, just to make sure it isn't a cheap variant or something.

EDIT EDIT: Working on the broken links.

Ahh good thing I asked. Well The motherboard has a builtin Vid card so I don't think it will be a problem. And Yes I know he posted a Motherboard but Spending less is better. If you can't find anything good I could go with the motherboard you posted.

And all those links you posted don't work!!!

Yes, I know. Some of the parts are different, it was easier that way than to track down the ones that were there previously. These are good parts, nonetheless. All the links in my last two posts should now work.

Ok thanks for all your help!! Also how do you know they are 100% comptible Id like to know for future reference. yes the onboard vid card works fine I use to use it with my comp till I upgraded everything.

Do I need 1G of Ram?? or would 512mb do?
