Building a manly gaming rig! Help please?

Hi all,

I am new to this site and was glad to come across such a vibrant and expert community!

Simply put, my budget is less than $1000 and I want to build a stylish and awesome rig. So any input from the local experts will be appreciated.

I came across this:

Man, I'm not gonna lie, for $910 that's a giveaway. Really nice solid build and case is nice too.

That combo doesn't have a video card. Adding one that is suitable for gaming would put you over budget.

Of course! how could I miss that? The combo doesn't include a video card.

Now let's say we put another $250 in for a video card, can someone tell me what my best options are with regards to gaming? I have been researching but there is an overwhelming amount of choices out there. Also I'd appreciate if someone could whip up a nice rig for around a $1000.00

I would keep your original combo deal and just add this video card.

Why would you recommend the HD 6870? I was leaning towards one of the deals that had two HD 6850s as part of the bundle, as my rationale was that two HD6850s working together will provide more bang for the buck?

One 6870 should play any game out right now. If you need more power later then a 2nd 6870 (when the prices go down) will give you a better experience than (2) 6850's.

One top of the line card is always the better than (2) mid-range cards in the long run.
