how is this plan for a build? do the parts look balanced? I am buying from directcanada.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 Dual Core Processor LGA775 Conroe 2.2GHZ 800FSB 2MB

memory:
Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Kit W- LEDs

graphics:
EVGA E-GEFORCE 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out

hard drive:
Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS

I am wondering if this other processor would be worth the upgrade?

Looks good, however I would go with a processor with a higher bus speed other then 800MHz. the 1333FSB would be better.

Why not cut all the crap and go with AMD instead?

Intel has AMD on the run. Intel is currently the best you can buy for now and probably for some time.
