For $500 or under, this guy wants me to build him a machine for gaming. So I said OK...tell me what you need and what you already have. He said he has a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and sound card for it all from his old system and he needs a complete new system. And what game will you be playing...he said FEAR, COD2, WoW, Ragnarok, AOE1,2,3, other less intense Microsoft game.

So here's the build:

Total with shipping comes to $536.64 - $40 rebate = $496.64. Right on the sweet spot. I'm doing this for free and I'm giving him Win XP Pro 32bit which saves him about $100 because I get this for free anyways.

I told him he should put in just a little more for an after market HSF so I can OC the system. He said maybe later. I think this system is more than enough to play FEAR, which is the most intensive game on his list.

Anyone have a different opinion? I tried the E6320 build but it was over the budget nearly $600 to $650, plus I had to sacrifice many other components. I think AMD seem to be the best bang for a system under $500.

*EDIT* Had to make some adjustment, changed the motherboard to lower the price and the PSU because it didn't have the 8pin for the CPU connector. Wasn't sure if 4pin would work but I'm not taking any chances.

I am just thinking what is the point of a 7900GS, wouldn't the RAM and Processer just limit whats its capable of?

Not really, I think the CPU I chosen is enough. The RAM could of been 1gig but this was a tight budget, he can add another one later. I could of lower the price on the video card but at that deal I couldn't pass it off.
