Default Budget processor - is this the right one?

Hi,

I'm after a new processor, on a budget. I've been told this - Pentium 4 Processor 630 3.0GHz 2MB FSB800 BTX BOX BX80547PG3000FT Intel Prices - will suit my system, but I'm wondering whether it's good enough? I mostly use the relevant PC for just general web browsing and listening to music..

Thanks!

Well what system do you have? You should know that by today's standards, that CPU is very old and slow.

In the socket LGA 775 category id rather go for a Intel core 2 duo. Even the most basics ones are pretty good. I had the Intel core 2 duo E6600 at some point. Really good.

OK but that doesn't really answer my question.
