Default Budget gaming rig. Thoughts/advice

This is kind of a repost but it has changed a lot since my first post. Here is what I will be getting as of now. I am at the top end of my budget so any advice would have to be something at or near the same price or to get something cheaper to get something else that cost more.

Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119068

CPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103535

MOBO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128268

Graphics
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127201

Ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220037

PSU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817148002

HD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822135106

Also getting a ASUS cd burner, 3.5 floppy and xp home w/sp2

Totals to $782 including shipping.

This should play any game out there as of now. I was thinking about getting an amd 2800 clawhammer socket 754 cpu and MOBO to lower the cost and get a 6800GS. But I think the X1600pro will work fine for now or should I go with the better video card and upgrade the mobo/cpu when socket M2 comes out.

Thanks for any advice.

You can do better if you watch the sales

I started out with a compaq sr1610nx wich comes with :

ms 7184 mobo with ati onboard xpress graphics 939 socket
amd sempron 3200 + 64 enabled coolnquiet
windows xp home w/sp2
80 gig sata barracuda drive
cd burner/dvd
256 ram (removed)
added
4/512 sticks of pc3200
500 watt psu
wireless network card
evga 7800 gt w/quake 4 (ordered but on b/o @tigerdirct till the 9th)
sony dru810a dvd burner

Bottom line $658 pre- tax

starting with that sr1610nx for 199 after rebates is great, the parts are worth more then the whole. everything else I did on sale and rebates to keep cost down. the 658 is pre tax lol

Yea but with that system your getting a semperon. Why get one when you can afford an Athlon? It's got a cheap motherboard, where you can't overclock (mind you the chaintech is also pretty cheap). I'd get this video card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130214

It kills the one that you wanted to get. And with the extra cash you save from the video card I'd get this motherboard:

Everything else looks good.

I was looking at the 6600. How is it better? It's only 128mb and 8 pipelines where the 1600 is 256mb and 12 pipelines. I know the 6600 has a faster memory clock and GDDR3 instead of GDDR2. Although it would allow me to get the MSI. So Chaintech is not a good company? The chaintech seems to get very good reviews on newegg too. This system will be used for gaming and burning music cd's.

Thanks again for the advice. The MOBO and graphics is what I seem to go back and forth between products.

for 199 I can throw out the sempron and upgrade if I choose.
Lets see, I got windows, hard drive, mobo, cpu, cd burner,ect...... I dont think you can piece those parts cheaper, infact I have scrapped the psu, memory from the buy and it doesnt matter I'm still ahead. If you take out the cost of windows I paid $105 for the 939 starter kit computer lol lets see anybody build a 939 sempron computer complete for $105.00

Yeah, but with that, you are getting the Pre-Built Woes. Who wants those?

I got a great deal, what pre-built woes... The antec TPII psu fit in perfectly, 2 gigs ram upgradeable to 4 ....looks like a woe. space to add my dru810 dvd burner..... no issues or woes and a pci-e slot to boot. yea its not an sli mobo but I can live with that

I would much rather build my own. I am done with pre-built machines. So back to my question as to which video card is better. 6600GT or the x1600pro or are they equal?

Tweaked my build. This will be what I am ordering later today.

Changed from a chaintech mobo to gigabyte
Went with a MSI x1600pro over the saphire x1600pro

i agree with reggie,
also if you are going to be buying the MOBO with an nvidia Chipset
why buy an ATI?
