Hi guys,

I used to be a member on these forums before it was 'renovated' but I lose my account somehow, so here I am again re-introducing myself. I hope to once again become an active member of your community.

Anyway i'll get straight to it.
Christmas is coming up and I will be a getting a new PC, I have a budget of around $500 (AUD) and plan to use my new PC for gaming.

So far this is the build I have come up with. I would appreciate any criticism or advice on it .

Asus M4A785T-M $102
4GB Kit DDR3 1333 Kingston $117
Samsung SATA 1TB $95
AM3 x4 620 $117
1GB 9800GT Inno3D $125
Antec NSK4480B-II $109

One of my main queries is whether the PSU that comes with the Antec NSK4480B-II will be adequate for the rest of the parts the PSU is an EarthWatts 380W PSU.

Cheers

The PSU should work, its a little on the weak side though.

You would really be better off with a psu that has a max output around 400 or 450 watts.

refer to the power supply guide linked in my signature for brand reccomendations on the cheap end.

I have not been keeping up to date on prices as much, but I think you are over paying for that 9800gt.
Newegg.com - HIS H485FM1GH Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
That would suit you better... but I am sure you can find a 4870 for around that price. I saw a few 4870's around the $125 mark when the 5 series came out. I heard there was a shortage though... hmm.
edit: huh... yea prices must have gone up or I am losing it...
Amazon.com: XFX Radeon HD 4870 512MB DDR5 Dual DVI: Electronics
I had this link bookmarked and it was $115 a few weeks ago... at least I thought it was.

In any case
Newegg.com - PNY VCG98GTXPXPB GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
or
Newegg.com - ASUS ENGTS250/DI/512MD3 GeForce GTS 250 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Better deal then that 9800gt. Just shop around I guess :/

Other then that, I really like your CPU choice! That's a great budget quad and works great for games.

Would an Antec Earthwatts 430W be enough to run the system effectively (and maybe even OC the GPU)? It would require me to change my case to a Thermaltake V3 and downgrade to a 500GB HDD(not a problem however as I have spares at home anyway).

EDIT:Thanks Drizz, ill look into that now.

I have my finalised build, (extending my budget from $500AUD to $800).
If someone could just confirm that all the parts are compatible with one another that would be great, thanks.

Antec200 Gaming Case+Earthwatts 500w $161
Asus M4A77TD-Pro DDR3 $113
AM3 Phenom II 720 $138
Kingston 4gb $125
Seagate 500GB Sata II $65
Gigabyte 1GB 5770 $212

Completely missed that part. My bad.

pr0xy122, if you can give me either your old account name or the email you used I can merge it to your new account.
