do i need to spend more for CPU cooling (fans, thermal paste, heatsink, etc.)

i'm not going to be overclocking

only games i'd like to play are some FPSes - mainly valve titles like left 4 dead and tf2

i already have a monitor and other peripherals

i'm a total newbie at this so can someone check if everything is compatible in the build

esp. the motherboard and PSU w/ the CPU + GPU

This is better ram that you might want to consider:
Newegg.com - OCZ SLI-Ready 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
Better timings and a lot cheaper. Edit: Nevermind stick with the Gskill, didn't realize you picked a 4Gb kit.

Might as well get this hdd instead:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
Same cache and price as the one you picked, but slightly bigger.

If your not overclocking then the stock heatsink will be fine.

id stick with the ram you chose. Also i think a 7200.11 500gb would be a better choice for the hdd (larger cache size)

Everything else looks fine, what is this computer being used for. Also are you ocing?

Yeah he said he isnt going to be OC'ing an he currently wants to play l4d and maybe some TF2
