Im building a computer for my brother:
My brother likes to play games and browse the net. I have a budget of $400AU but i already have the accesories (monitor, keyboard mouse, hard drives, etc...) I might even have some RAM lying around.

This is what i came up with:

ASUS P5P800 $108.50
Intel Pentium 4 520 $235.00
Gigabyte GV-R955256D $107.80
Kingston PC3200 Dual Channel 2 x 256 MB $79.00

Well as you realised i am already over budget with this crappy P.C, so what i need your guys help in reducing price, but getting a decent PC.
If you guys want Australian prices check here: www.shopbot.com.au
(Note i do not buy celerons, dont even try!)

Thanks A Lot!

If a gaming PC is what you need, I would recommend to focus most of your budget into the:

1.) Video Card "Most important"
2.) CPU - "AMD 3200 - 3500"
3.) 1GIG of RAM (if not more)

since it is for entry level gaming i would suggest u to buy an amd processor which r cheaper than intel and offer better gaming performance

This is what ive got now:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939 $202AU
Gigabyte GeForce PCX5900 128Mb PCI-E Video Card $190AU

I carried the budget up to 500, now all i need is a motherboard for around $100AU with PCI-E and AMD 939 support.

any suggestions?

Edit: how about the Gigabyte Socket 939 M/B GA-K8NF-9?

1) ABIT nF2 SPP mobo - 82

2) xp2800 w/heatsink - 98

3) Seagate barracuda sata150 80GB - 65

4)1GB corsair valueselect - 90

5) 9600XT - 93

6) any case - 20

7) thermaltake 420W dual fan psu - 36

Well for starters, i do not require a case, hard drive, cd/dvd unit, psu or keyboard and mouse, and i may not require Ram.

and if you post some parts would you mind telling me where you got the prices from.

thanks guys

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ S939 Venice Core $214

Sparkle nVidia 6600 128Mb HDTV/DVI $195

Abit UL8 S939 $92

Total = $501 + $20 shipping.

If you can beat that then congratulations!
I was very surprized when reading the specs from the motherboard, for such a cheap price the thing supports Dual CPU's and Upto 8Gb RAM. It is sadly AGP but i thought that he is not going to add another card in the future so whats the point of PCI-E.
