Default boot sector virus

my second comp, celeron/aspire pc3200, asus mobo.
i just got it all set up with some wireless net and such, and my little brosiff has been searching (only god knows what, but he enjoys fruity myspace things)

anyways computer will turn on and go to he asus backround screen where it says the mobo name and things like {tab] for post messages or something and [del] to run setup but its pretty much just frozen

im figuring somehow i have a boot sector virus but i was wondering if there were any sweet litttle tricks to figure it out so i dont have to reformat and reload windows and such
