boot hardrive change

Im wondering if i could take the bootable hardrive from my current computer.. and put it in a different computer to aviod having to buy XP because the hardrive has the XP recovery partitioned to it and i have no XP disk.

I have no clue if this would work or not. does anyone know?

Unless the hardware differences are miniscule between systems, the answer is no. It will go about halfway, then BSOD. It's not even worth trying IMHO.
