I have a new pre-built PC and was wondering if upgrading the BIOS would give me the option to OC. I have a Sempron 2800+ and it is set at 1.6. But it has a maximum of 3.4. Is there anything i can do to take advantage of this?

Not unless you replace your BIOS chip.

Pre-mades, like Dell, HP, eMachine, Gateway, come with locked BIOS. They are not capable of over-clocking since these options have been removed.

If you want to overclock, you'll have to remove and replace your BIOS chip, or replace your mobo with an aftermarket one.

Todays BIOS chips are EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programable Read Only Memory)
There must be a way for a technician to load a different BIOS onto your existing chip.
