Best upgrade option?

So I am looking to upgrade my gaming rig for better performance. The Parts I have were a x-mas present and do not perform as well as I would like. Im looking to upgrade either the GPU or CPU/MBoard.

Current Specs
AMD FX 6100
Asus M5A88-M Motherboard
GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB
8GB GSkill Ripjaws X 1600Mhz

The sales rep where the parts were bought chose the CPU. And I do see how sucky that CPU is.....Moving on.

So my question is what would get me the better performance boost?

A new CPU, in which case I am looking at a Core i7-3820

Or a stronger GPU, like the GTX680 or Radeon HD 7950

At the current time I can only afford one or the other. Any Help would be great. And yes I have learned my lesson about AMD.

Stronger GPU. Albeit, yes I agree the FX CPUs aren't that great, but it isn't the part that is holding you back.

IF you decide to upgrade the CPU, then a 3820 isn't something I would go for. You would be better off with a 2700k or 2500k.
