Default Best AMD Processor For...

Whats the best AMD Processor for about 200 dollars that can run ddr2 ram off tigerdirect.ca?, id use newegg but im in canada, no shipping to canada. i was lookin at getting this Intel Pentium D 840 3.2GHz untill the upd the price 50 bucks from 250 till 300, so what are my choices o wise ones?


EDIT: Quick secondary question, will a x8 AGP card work in a x4 AGP slot, but just not preform up to the x8 preformance?

The 4200 x2 woudl be your best bet I would think.

to answer the second question, yes, it will work, but it wont be as fast.

i cant find a 4200 X2 for 200, its all 250 which is above my budget, i found a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz which was 205 which i can spring for. how does that compare to the 4200, im not with AMD's ive only ever gone intels so i dont know how they preform.

what would be rated better? AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ or the Intel Pentium D 840 3.2GHz?

EDIT: Also what mobo would go better with the AMD?

the 4200+ is a lot better than the 840.

out of the 2 mobos you posted, i guess i'd take the msi...

Yes the 3800+ is way better then the 840. Pretty much all the AMD X2s beat the Pentium D line.

Is the 200$ canadian? I don't know how much that equals, but if it equals like 140 dollars then try to get the 3800x2
