Default ATI / nVidia comparisons

My mum's friend asked me to design an extreme-budget PC, I have everything else put together but I still don't know enough about the thread subject - I know everything about nVidia cards like the back of my hand, but I severely lack in knowledge about ATI cards - could I please be given the ATI equivelant of these nVidia cards?

9800
9600GT
8800
GTX260

That should be enough for me to compare stuff to

Edit: Oh, and just a quick question; AM2 CPUs work in AM2+ mobos, right?

For a budget gaming build the 4830 is a great bang for the buck card.

Thanks guys
4830 looks good, about the equivalent of a 9600GSO, but also about the same price. SO I dunno. Fanboyishness wants me to go for nVidia, what would you guys recommend?

some games are more biased towards nVidia, but i'm pretty sure that the 4830 beats even the 9600 gt

1024x768 res >>>9600gso or 3870 or 4830?

look at the chart on the second post

Did you even bother to check this list? Equal to a 9600 as if, its just behind the 8800gt (g92) but clocks well so gets on par with a 9800gtx in some games.

the 4830 is a little better than the 9800GT/8800GT

the 9800GTX+ is equal to the 4850

the 4870 1GB is a little slower than the GTX260 core 216

the 9600GT is a little faster than the 4670

extreme budget...but looking at these cards? WHY??? unless they plan on gaming with it, current onboard graphics would be more then enough. If they are only a casual gamer, a mid range 3xxx card would be plenty, or a low to mid4xxx if you wanted to do it for the heck of it.

To me, and extreme budget is as bare boned as you can get.

$208 w/o video card. Just add case, PSU, and OS. $268 or $283 w/card, depending on which.
