Default AMD PROCESSOR UPGRADE

i have a hp desktop m7248n with an AMD ATHLON 64 X2 DUAL PROCESSOR 4200+ 2.19GHZ WITH 2000 MT/s (mega transfers/second) & Socket 939. I want to upgrade it but i dont know what would be compatible with the computer. i want to bring it up to about 3 GHz, is it possible? anybody got any suggesstions?

skt 939 there is not much of anything you can upgrade to. You have one of the better 939 cpu's and finding one can be difficult at best and rather expensive.

I would save up for a new mb, cpu and ram at this point in time.

what is your price range?

In your situation it would be in your best interest to get a case and move components into it as well as you may have issues with the hp case.

psu could be an issue as well if you were to need a better graphics card later.
