What should I put into my new computer? AMD or Intel? I don't know much about comp tech so I don't know the difference.

if you are gamming AMD. If you are not gamming either will be ok. Tell us what you plan to do with the computer so we can get a better idea.

It's a desktop, mainly for gaming and I'd like to keep the budget for building it under $1000 US, a little over is ok. I haven't looked at any other parts yet, so I don't know how much the rest of the pc will cost. Like I said, this pc will be mainly for gaming, but also simple multimedia like watching movies and playing music, graphic design with photoshop and flash, internet browsing, and simple word and powerpoint homework things. I just need a processor that will be fast and good enough to run some newer more high-end games without slowdown. advice?

go with an AMD it is better and less expensive. Do you need a monitor or is your budget for the computer only?

Budget Gaming = Always AMD :)

What components do you have from other or previous computers? Or do you have none and will you be needing to buy all necessary components? Also, what game titles are you planning on playing?

Yeah man, sorry to get mad but there are like hundreds of posts talking about AMD vs. Intel. Just use the search tool at the top. But in this post you are actually talking about a new computer that you want to build too so its all good. Next time just change the title to something that is more along the lines of "help building new computer" lol.;)

Anyways, go with an amd processor for gaming. If $1000 is your budget than i say get this:

CPU:AMD athlon 64 3500+

HDD:Seagate Baracuda 160GB Sata

Total:$990

This will play any new game out there right now on max settings. This will be a good gaming build and you can overclock the cpu a lot with that good DFI motherboard.
