Send a message via AIM to Counter-Strike

Lol why not blow the whole thing and just go for a 4800 X2? Its only around $700 :P

And UT2007 has declared that it will utilize dual-core processors

The requirements are insane!

Worth mentioning the Opteron 165...will perform roughly the same as the 3800+ but for a few bucks addition, you're getting the larger L2 cache on the Opteron rather than having to spend money on a much more expensive 4400+ to have that feature

Opteron will also overclock fairly well and has a heat dump I think
Intel C2D E6320 / AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Gigabyte 965P DS3 / DFI nF4 Ultra-D
2GB OCZ Gold PC2-6400 / 2GB OCZ Gold PC4000
eVGA 8800GTS 320MB / eVGA 6800GS 256MB
150GB Raptor / 74GB Raptor
2x500GB / 320GB
OCZ GameXStreme 850w / OCZ StealthXStream 600w

Then what if any are the disadvantages of Opterons? I mean, not many people have them, except people who really know computers. It seems they certainly aren't as popular as X2's and Sandiego's....on paper they look aewsome.

They are both 64-bit, one is a dual processor. He was asking if he should go dual-processor or not.

I think you might as well go dual-processor as you will help yourself be "future proof."
