Ok thanks for all your help, however I'm getting a 6600 AGP 256MB, and have heard people on the net saying that this is not backwards compatible with AGP 4X slots.

well i havnt seen or hurd of any AGP 8x card thats isnt backwards compatible with the 4x agp slot

What is the main difference between agp8x and 4x?

Desktop - Antec Sonata III
Intel Core i3 540
4 GB DDR3-1600 memory
ATI Radeon HD 5670
Windows Vista Business x64
