Default Advice On Upgrading Processor?

I am looking to upgrade my processor to a dual core, i currently have a celeron with windows vista operating system so as you can imagine my pc is so ****ing slow it drives the patients of a saint. Anyway what I want to know is if I just replace my old processor with a new dual core one will the pc work or do I need to do anything else to make the upgrade complete? I must point out that i have checked to see if my motherboard will support a dual core and they are both compatable.

Many Thanks.

Erm can you post your full specs I am not sure whether you know what your actually looking for plus vista isn't that slow it just needs lots of ram If you are having performance issues then get more ram or turn off some of the features

It is a LGA 775 motherboard. Its not just that it is slow I can't do more than 1 thing at any one time without the not responding sign coming up.
