Default advice on buying

im going to help out a friends buy a computer and hes getting it from eg currys pc world etc etc were shopping about basically i want to know what are good makes i know toshiba hp are good any other makes that are good

EDIT: and also i think all hes going to be using pc for is internet and office apps just small tasks, so i persume go for a cheap intel core 2duo and 1-2gb of ram

I don't have any problems with my Dell laptop. Dell computers have always worked great for me despite all the bad rumor.

You might try eBay or building your own computer, which is always better then buying one pre built.

Wait are you buying a Laptop or do you want a Desktop to build?

Dell laptops are actually good because they don't make them (another OEM does) another good one is a HP
