Despite my previous post Ive decided to order brand new parts for my system. I was wondering if anyone could help me by seeing if all the listed parts below are compatible

Mobo: Biostar P4M800M7A Intel Socket 775 MicroATX Motherboard
Processor: Intel Pentium D 840 3.20GHz Dual-Core OEM Processor
RAM: (x2) 512MB DDR400 -184 pin- (from crucial technology)
Sound: On-board
Video: nVidia GeForce 6600 6600LE PCI E SLI
HD: Current (WD1200 120GB's)

And a couple of questions:

Whats the difference between a dual-core and single-core?

Will the dual-core help with gaming? ( I play alot of games such as Call of duty 2 and Battlefield 2 that demand high end systems..)

Thanks,
Shifty

The difference is pretty much self-explanatory.....a dual core has two cores...similar to having two brains in one head. Dual-core right now hasn't been fully taken advantage of in terms of gaming, but will soon. But while playing a game for example, you can burn or encode videos or run other applications with ease.
