Adding odd stick of ram

On the DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152 I have 2 sticks of 512gb dual channel ram on this mobo. I want to add a full 1gb stick to it, not dual channel because I already have the stick. Its not the same brand either. Is this ok to do? So in other words I would have (2) 512gb dual channel and 1 gb of ram stick of ram. I realize the one stick wont run in dual channel, but will it give me 3gb of memory and work ok?
