Most likely, with any mobo upgrade, you'll have to reinstall. For that matter, good luck finding any mobo that's worth a crap for under 20 bucks.

So you want to put in a video card. Do you have it or is this coming out of the $20 budget as well? What card is it? You could do a repair install of windows assuming you have the disk but that is not ideal. Then you would have to install all of your new drivers.

it's always best to do a complete reinstall of xp after mobo change.

nah i can work on money....but i will need something low budget...i have a graphics card that should be able to work with my current rig (the new motherboards gonna need PCI express slots...only reason i need a upgrade) so im good with that, ignore my $20 comment lol. anyway....ive been seeing some geforce 8600 cards on newegg for a good price...i want one of em...i would have bought one,but my comp cant do PCI express anyway.i just ordered a FX5200 card for my current rig it should be good to replace my GMA 900 but its not gonna last long at all. i also got 1GB of ram so it should be at least a bit better but im gonna need better graphics in a big hurry....and to do that ill need a new mobo but my main question is...if i transfer BOTH my cpu AND my hard drive would i need to reinstall XP? and how do i go about removing the processor without damaging it...cuz i cant afford to spend money unless i have to
