Hi, im still in dilemma whether to change to 6870 hawk frozer 3, currently using 9600gt.
Was at my friend's place today, he had a stock q9550 paired with a 6870 hawk frozer 3, 4 gb 667mhz & corsair hx-850.
He plays BF3 in resolution of 1280 x1024 and it was pretty fluid. I told him to play it on 1080p on his tv and at some intense
battle scenes it stutter and lag abit. Is it his processor bottlenecking or is it because of the resolution?
I read up and saw BF3 needed more than 1GB vram in 1080p. I personally run a c2d e8400@ 3.8ghz, 8gb 844mhz ram and corsair ax-750,
1080p monitor and think my cpu most likely be the bottleneck. Pls help and thanks loads!!

I play BF3 just fine on a q9400 (2.66ghz), but I'm not sure how that compares with yours. The main thing I would upgrade is your gpu, as it (9600gt) does not meet the minimum requirements. I would go for a GTX 560 or a 6950 if you can. I wouldn't try playing @ 1920x1080 with a 6870 - the game is already prone to glitches and crashes...

I think it's the processor.. I have the same processor (at 3.4Ghz right now) running at 1920x1080.. I see some lag, but that' from my video card (not nearly as quick as the 6870... I have a GTX 285).

In multiplayer I don't have problems with everything on high on 1920x1080... single player it lags though.
