Default 6800GT or HD 3450

as the title says

I want to get a slight upgrade for old rig
either 6800GT or HD 3450
and I am not planning on upgrading anything else... eg PSU
so don't try to convince me out of stepping up to XXXX
running on wimpy 300W 17A 12V
and I am not even sure if wimpy will powerful be enough

the only game family plays on it is The Sims 2, that it, nothing else
and GF4 MX440 has a hard time running that thing. lol

If all they play is Sims 2 then the 6800 GT should be more then enough. 6800 GT was high end (WOW time fliys) back like 3 generations ago. While the 3450 is lower end (usually for media centers) and only 1 generation back.

Which ever one you decide to get. Both will be able to run Sims 2. Although the 6800 GT might be the better card in this case.

I was leaning towards 6800 GT also since it was slight bit cheaper

I doubt a 6800GT would run on that PSU, if i remember correctly they chewed through power. I would get the 3450 personally because its newer tech and it consumes less power.

Lol, 18A for the card alone...no way.

Even a single 8800GT only uses 9A. Maybe 18A for the whole system, yeah.
