im thinking of slowly building up a new system

its gonna be a c2d, and i figure i will need a new power supply since i'll be buying a new gpu to replace my x700se, and my current 380 watt will be too weak.

is this a good psu?

thanks!

in terms of building a new system, ive already got a super heatsink/fan, ram, hd, dvdrw and a solid case. only a mobo/cpu until i can run something yay!

EDIT: week to weak. silly spelling mistakes **** me off.

no, thats not a good one... its a generic Single 12v rail (And Its CHEAP).

you cant spend less then ~$50 USD(maybe ~$45 at rock bottom) on a Powersupply, unless you get lucky and find a good Brand on Clearence or After Rebate.

see here for witch Bands of PSU you should stick with:
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=136602

also note, the standard modern day Powersupply has more then 1 12v Rail. at least 2x 12v rails. expensive ones have 4x.

edit:
o yea you can search for parts at placess also such as:
www.pricegrabber.com
www.resellerratings.com

and if your lucky, you maybeable to find a part you need on sale from a list like this:

i'll be getting an x850xt pe, but i keep thinking i might have up to 200 to spend on a card. right now, the pe is out of stock on newegg and i wouldnt dare pay more somewhere else.

does the fact that it has 128 bit memory vs 256 bit memory for the 850 matter at all?

my chipset is ati, so thats why i was lookin to go that way.

in this case, no the 128bit mem interface doesnt matter... the card is clocked so high that it outperforms most all other previouse gen cards that have 256bit interface.

i have a 256bit 6800GS, and all benchmarks anywere online, confirm that the 128bit 7600GT outperfroms it.

i never used a ATI chipset, you may wont to google your Chipset and see if theres any compatability issues between it and Nvidia cards befor making the desition.
