Do you need a monitor, and an OS? Also are there any parts you can re-use from your current PC? Such as hard drives, optical drives, etc.

Well, you could re-use the hard drive from your laptop but it really wouldn't be worth it

I'll do you a build in a min; back in ten.

Okay, here you go. Just over 300 when you choose free shipping:

CPU AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz AM3 Retail Boxed Processor - Ebuyer

Mobo ASROCK M3A785GMH/128M 785G Sopcket AM3 VGA DVI HDMI Out 8 Channel Audio MATX Motherboard - Ebuyer

RAM Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz i5 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V - Ebuyer

DVD Sony AD-5240S 24x DVDRW DL Internal SATA Black Bare Drive - OEM - Ebuyer

Case + PSU Coolermaster Elite 330 Case With Coolermaster eXtreme Power 460W PSU *SPECIAL OFFER* - Ebuyer

HDD Western Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue - Ebuyer

For a tenner more you can go up to 750GB if you want it. The mobo has integrated, so if you want to game on it (no idea if you do) you'll need to bump up the budget.

The best for your needs, yup.
Hard drive prices have changed a little since I last checked, turns out 750GB is about twenty quid more.

You can get 500GB for a only a couple quid more:
Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue - Ebuyer
Or 640GB for 13 more:
Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue - Ebuyer
