Default 2x 4-pin Molex to 1 6-pin power adapter

I never heard of these before last week. I want to upgrade my gpu but my psu only has 1 6-pin power connector and most new gpus need 2. Are these reliable?

Thank you!

Newbie since 2005.

I've had problems with them myself. I'm not sure if it's because the gfx card I was trying to power just couldn't draw enough current over the two molex connectors (the actual 6-pin wouldn't reach), but it wouldn't start up until I got an extension for the 6pin.

If you have a gpu that needs twin 6 pin connectors it might not be an entirely bad idea to get a new psu, they aren't exactly expensive anymore. You can pick up a nice 600w for less than $50.
