Question 2,2GHZ core 2 duo or dual core 3,4 GHZ

i have a pentium d 645 3,4ghz 800mhz fsb 2x2 mb l2 cache.
i am buying a second pc wich gonna use a pentium core 2 duo E4500 2,2ghz
800mhz fsb 2m shared l2 cache and im wondering if the core 2 duo will be way faster or about the same as my pentium d?
any info anyone?

N.B.i might buy the E4600 2,4ghz instead of the E4500...

Core 2 Duo owns Pentium D's... the low end Intel Core 2 Duo e2180 probably still beats the Pentium Dual-Core EE..

You should at least get the C2D.

My computer uses 1.5A-load, .8A-idle, .65A-standby, .05A-turned off on 125V.

Core 2 is the way to go... Over the pentium d proc you should notice a good gain in speed.
