Here's my HijackThis log. Hopefully you can tell me how to get rid of this forever. Oh, and, Malware Bytes won't run so I can't use that....yet. I have installed it twice; went thru the set up and istall but not able to run it. Also I have deleted the registry entries, that I could find (PAV.exe and PAV) hope that didn't screw anything up.

Yes that computer is on a domain. I searched the registry using regedit for the file name that was in the path in the properties menu. One was PAV.exe and the other was just PAV, but when I held the cursor over the entry it showed the full name which was also PAV.exe. So maybe it installed two .exe's?

another thing that I saw in the registry was that malwarebytes was set to "silent": O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware] C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe /install /silent Not sure how or why or even how to change that particular value, just FYI.

No. None of the .exe's are responding. I will click on the icon and just see the hourglass flash. The process doesn't even start, at least I didn't see it on the process tree. one other thing I should point out, I uninstalled and reinstalled Malwrebytes. On the reinstall I went through the whole install wizard process making sure that the box "run after install" was checked. The install completed as far as I could tell, but the program never started. Is there a way to change the value for the reg entry I highlighted from the "run once" and "silent" config to have it just run?

Well, I did everything EXACTLY per your instructions and the **** thing [malwarebytes] still won't run! I've tried three different times and each time the malwarebytes gets installed it has the same "runonce" and "silent" path(mentioned in post #4). I can't find any traces of the PAV in the reg, but I think it's still there somewhere preventing Mal from running. I have a feeling I am just going to have to re-image the machine and start from scratch, unless you can think of something else.
