Hi,
My computer seems to have been infected by some "FakeSpyware" virus, what it did was change my desktop to something telling me I had spyware and it wouldn't let me change it. I did a search on google and came across this forum.

I did everything in the guide posted here. While the deaktop background went away WinPatrol keeps popping saying something is trying to change my desktop "page" and I have to keep clicking no, so it would seem that the virus isn't gone. So I am hoping somebody can help me out.

So here is my HJT log...

Edit:
While I was running Ad-Aware my AVG popped up with three threats, two of them were the fake-antispyware. I am not sure if it'll help but I'll post the log...

ok, now I need you to disable system restore if you have it active.

Then I need you to run ccleaner and cleanup, reboot, run AVG post it results again and then post a new log and let me know if you see any more infections

Alright, I shut off system restore and ran ccleaner and cleanup and AVG. AVG didn't find anything. Thankfully I haven't had anything else pop up. (knock on wood:p) And here is the HJT log:

Hi,

I know those websites but I don't use any of them anymore so I removed them. Also the "O24 - Desktop Component 0: (no name) - (no file)" still won't go away, why is that?

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to post another log or not so I guess I'll post it.

Alright, I ran both the anti-malware program and combofix. Both deleted a few things. Then I tried removing "O24 - Desktop Component 0: (no name) - (no file)" again but no luck. :( What could be the problem?

Its really not that big of a deal, the infection is gone. I forgot what I used to remove that entry
