Jeremy thanks for the reply, I have done everything you told me to do but.........
a)when I click F8 I get the menu but no option to start in "safe mode" all I get is a list asking me what I want to boot from, with my harddrives, cd/dvd drives etc, but no "safe mode" option
b)I used the windows search tool and searched for hpCA02.tmp, searching in all sub folders and system folders but no sign of the file in question.
I have included the hijackthis log like asked, hope you can help.

Right, I ran Ewido and it found 20 objects but could only clean 18 of them. I assume that the 2 it couldn't clean are the 2 I am trying to remove, typical! LOL Anyway here's the hijackthis log again. I restarted after running Ewido and I couldn't get it to boot up in safe mode. All I keep getting is the menu asking what device I want to boot up off. I hope someone can still help, thanks

Here, you are infected with SpyFalcon - the NEW upgrade to the previous and dreaded SPYAXE.

Removal instructions : Go to this link and download Noahdfear's SmitRem fix and FixSF.reg - http://malwareremoval.com/plog/index.php?op=ViewArticle&articleId=85&blogId=3
Please make sure you follow these instructions carefully, if not, you are just going to continue to get this spyfalcon program.

The trojan you are talking of is directly related to Spyfalcon, and will continue to install it as long as it is there.

Please manually search for this .dll file : ginuerep.dll and dxmpp.dll
They should be found in "SYSTEM32" folder. Delete them.
NOTE : Using windows search tool - choose 'all files and folders' THEN make sure to click the "MORE ADVANCED OPTIONS" button/arrow , now place a checkmark next to the top three options. Now perform another search.

If you cannot delete them, now is the time to restart in SAFE mode. Instructions as above QUOTE raiden :D . Once in safe mode repeat the windows search, and remove those .dll files.

Hopefully this helps somewhat.

Proper removal of Spyfalcon......

Spyfalcon Removal Instructions

SpyFalcon is an anti-spyware program that is known to issue fake warning messages on your computer, similar (and almost identical to) Windows Update Notification balloons in order to manipulate you into registering for the full paying version. SpyFalcon is the latest rogue program from the creaters of Spysheriff, SpyAxe, who also created Spyware Strike and a host of others.

It is easy to know you have been infected by SpyFalcon, because you will be prompted to buy it. This infection also hijacks your desktop.

The following entry in HijackThis will show that SpyFalcon is on your computer:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpyFalcon] C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon\SpyFalcon.exe /h

Next, Reboot into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Once in Safe Mode, go into Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and look for SpyFalcon. If you find it, select the uninstall option. Do NOT restart the computer if you are told to.

Find and Delete the following Files and Folders. (Do not worry if the SpyFalcon Folder is not found)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrgsrv.exe <----Delete that file
C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon <----Delete that folder

Windows 2000

Open My Computer-->Tools-->Folder Options-->View-->Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files and click YES and then OK.

Close all programs and windows. Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please keep that safe!

Run Ewido: (Do not use the computer while Ewido is scanning)

1. Click on Scanner
2. Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
3. If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action. DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
4. If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
5. When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen. Save the report to your desktop
6. Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display>>Desktop>>Customize Desktop>> Website>> and Uncheck "Security Info" or something simular if present.

Reboot back into Normal Mode
