So, I have two computers (one desktop, one laptop). Both connected to the internet with a wireless connection. Anyways. Just recently my desktop has gone down the hole. the internet speed is stupidly slow, and it takes time for it to boot up programs. Whereas before out of the two it was the fastest by a long shot.

I've ran a Avast! bootscan, it picked up 2 virus's and thats it. Ran the Maleware scan from the microsoft website, and it picked up nothing at all either.

Computer Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4600+
2.4 GHz, 2 GB of RAM
Windows XP Home
Radeon X1600/X1650 Series 512 MB (hate my graphics card... lol)

To be completly honest, i have no idea what Hijackthis does, or how to read it... Just know to get help i'd need to post it. lol.

Moved to correct area. We have a Analyze area in our Virus section for HiJack Logs. Someone will be by shortly to analyze it and give you advice.

Go to start, run, type msconfig, press enter. Go to the startup tab, click disable all, then recheck your antivirus and reboot.

Post a new log and let me know if you see a difference

Approx 3 or 4 days ago. If one was to do a lot of downloading, are they able to limit a single computers net speed?
 
Hello,

It could also be that you are a victim of the BitTorrent throttling. It could also be that when you are downloading you are doing it at prime times when throttling can occur.

I dont know what ISP you have but many have begun this practice where if you download more than a certain amoung during a time frame you are considered high risk and throttled with your download speeds during prime times.

Could also be that you have a download cap on from your ISP as well and you have reached that limit.

Each ISP is different. Would have to read thru the TOS of your ISP to know for sure. Also contact them as well to make sure that your connection is fine.

Say I am being effected by Torrent Throttling, which does suck (My ISP does have it... Shaw Cable FTL). Should this effect other things, like the loading of webpages, my Latency in games (EI: World of Warcraft where normally I run a latency of 50 now suddenly I'm at 3000+) This issue came up about 2 days after I started to download torrents. Before that, everything else was golden
