I Need some help with Spyware removal.

[Old_Brewer]

A few weeks after I got high speed internet, I got the following security "Alert":
...somebody's trying to infect your computer with sypware or harmful viruses...

I was redirected to this site, which I did not go to:

onlinestability.com

I was unable to load Webroot Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus, so I shutdown the computer on July 16, 2007.

I downloaded and ran HiJackThis_v2, today (April 4, 2008.

I just printed the Tech-Dump's Spyware Removal Guide. I have downloaded Hijackthis & installed in on the C:\. I had previously just put it into a folder on the desktop. I'll let you know the results soon.

Those 2, 021 files won"t seem to go away. I turned off system restore & tried again, but they are still there. The pop up still appears, also.

Well, I believe we are done. Thank you very much. Your quote got me thinking. Which side of the pond did Murphy's Law come from?

I printed the instructions, only to realize (thanks to your reminder about HJT) that the printer ran out of paper and only printed out the first two pages!

Anyway, I'm back on track. I firmly believe that the Spyware is gone. I quarantined 8 occurrences. Here is the most recent log file, and thanks again for the help.

I will personally mail you 100$ for your trouble if this doesn't work:

download the trial version of Kaspersky here: Antivirus Software - Register for a Free Trial

Install it and run "scan my computer". Kaspersky WILL remove this completely..

and then the next thing you want to do is right click on "my computer" click "advanced" go to "system restore" and UNCHECK the box that says "enable system restore" what that will do is clear out all of your existing restore points which your computer has made that contains copys of any virus files that may still be on your computer due to the fact that Kaspersky may not have detected those because they can't harm your computer.

Do the above if you are still having problems.. and remember if you are using Kaspersky to DISABLE windows firewall..

If you haven't cleared system restore I recommend you do so immediately.

Kasper is good but you will be out of $100 since there are things, like all anti - viruses, that it doesn't pickup
